I Am Derrick is a community-first initiative created to address food insecurity and dignity gaps impacting families and youth across underserved communities. Powered by DC Elite, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, the initiative focuses on meeting essential needs through sustainable, on-site solutions — one pantry and one laundry room at a time.

To support local nonprofits, schools, shelters, and grassroots organizations by providing access to nutritious food and clean clothing — restoring dignity, stability, and opportunity for individuals and families.
The Need
Food insecurity and lack of access to basic resources continue to affect student attendance, academic performance, health outcomes, and overall well-being. Families often face impossible choices between food, utilities, and basic necessities. I Am Derrick exists to remove these barriers where people already live, learn, and gather.
